The O&D for 3x daily is definitely there, not to mention the connecting traffic (like me) that still flows through PIT. PIT-LAX flights almost always go out completely full.
Wow. Smart move on US part. I have been harping on the fact that this route is overbooked regularly so US has reacted nicely to this problem. I rarely get upgraded even as Gold so you know it is popular. LAX-CLT on the 321 is a much easier upgrade.
I agree 3x day would've been better especially with an early afternoon PIT-LAX. They could fill four or five 319s a day in the summer without any problem considering the route is full in the winter. ^
