Whether it is worth it is a matter of personal opinion. I would rather go twice than spend twice as many miles. Others around here would never sit in Y for a trans-Atlantic flight. Your mileage, of course, may vary.
Before you worry about what to do, have you checked to see whether there is actually any availability for the dates you are interested in?
