Anyone else encounter the DL Noise Cancelling Headphone "Police"?

On a at least two flts in the last 3 weeks, I've encountered these FA that are overly zealous in enforcing "policies" regarding NCH. On one flight, the FA announce that "all electronic devices, including NCH, MUST be off AND stowed". Since it was a short RJ flt, we would not be able to even use our NCH as they would not be above 10K ft. On another, the FA stated the NCH must be off your ears and switched off.

I've read other threads here that relate to DL policies regarding NCH that indicated that we could wear them, if they were switched off.

Anybody else encounter this? What's the real policy? What are your experiences in this? BTW - in both instances the FA was male - not sure if there is any significance to this, but it is what I encountered.
