I would strongly urge you to stay at the Westin Diplomat which is a big, modern tower on the waterfront in Hollywood (midway between Miami and ft Lauderdale). It has no beach, but a nice pool and very, very nice treatment of Platinums. Other posters have suggested it ranks around the top in terms of Plat treatment. I received the best upgrade I've ever gotten from Starwood there, to an enormous high floor suite and it was over a pretty busy Pres Day weekend. Plus the club lounge is one of the better ones I've been to at a Starwood property, good breakfasts and a nice place to grab a drink in the evening. They will take care of you.

The Diplomat Country Club is a separate property, although it is only a short shuttle ride away. I was not impressed by the place, it doesnt seem "better" than the Westin and the fact that it is in the Luxury Collection made me expect it would be better. It was just average. We found a very cheap SPG 50 rate there, that was the only good thing, it was about $190 after the discount and the best available rate was around $290. The golf course here is pretty expensive for what you get. We played a public course up the road that was as good and much cheaper.

Again, my recommendation is to stay at the Westin Diplomat, not the Country Club.
