That is correct, but the RCC is so pathetic that you may wonder why you bothered to go inside. AA pretty much owns this route now, and UA is making a strong effort with PS to get that business back. But AA is quite good on this route, it is close to international standard service (definitely a notch down, but acceptable for the flight duration). If you want true international F, then fly QF JFK-LAX but you have to do it on an international ticket.
