Question Gaddi's really not as good as the French Laundry

Is Gaddi's really not as good as the French Laundry? My family of three will be staying at the Pen, and was thinking that we would have at least a couple non-Chinese meals during our 10 days in HKG.

Being based in SFO, I have not been impressed by the French Laundry. While the food is decent, the service is spotty, many of the servers appears to be trainees instead of seasoned professionals (in the best sense of the word). The ambiance and the location in Yountville is just average with no view.

We had a back to back comparison between La Pergola at the Cavalieri Hilton in Rome, and the French Laundry, and the La Pergola is clearly superior in every way. For the same approximately $600 excluding alcohol, I believe that the French Laundry is severely over-rated.

We will be making a short trip to China in the middle of our HKG stay, returning to the Intercontinental HK instead of the Pen. If Gaddi's and Petrus really are not a match for the French Laundry, I guess we will just skip French cuisine all together. The upside is that there will be plenty of top-notch Chinese restaurants to satisfy our culinary desires.

How about the Amigo as mentioned by pegasus8228? I have heard a few other positive comments, and might just give it a try in place of Gaddi's or Petrus.

Spoon is a failure, not up to the usually stellar Ducasse standards. But none are a match for the French Laundry which you have access to in SF (if you have connections or can get on the waiting list; I suppose Gaddi's is 5 orders of magnitude easier to book, but really if you are a foodie the French Laundry is it right now). ...
