Royal Monceau in Paris NOT a luxury hotel
What a mistake staying at this hotel. This is not a luxury hotel. Mandarin Oriental should distance thenselves from this dump until they complete the renovations.
I was confirmed in a supperior non smooking room(i am allergic to smoke and have a hard time around the smell of cigarettes). I was taken to a room which smelled like it was a smoking lounge and its air vent was making a rattling noice. It was also dark and drearry. I then went to the front desk where I was told there was nothing available they were sold out. I then said to get my bags and I am leaving. Then a non smoking room sudenly became available. Once there the toliet did not work and it took two hours to get someone to fix it. I can clearly hear the conversation of the lady in the room next to mine...thank godness I think she is alone although I am sure she does not appreciate my 5am wake up calls
This hotel is old (there is a buket and towels in the lobby as there is some kind of leak in the celeing) and run down. This is chep version of grand french...the carpets...the paint on the walls all shop worn. For over 300 Euro a night something is seriously wrong.
Unfortunatly I am here with others from my company and have to stay. The location is great for a quieter spot near the arc de triunph and from the photos the gym and pool look very nice but but they really need to speed up the renovations. The business center does not alow you to plug in a usb memory stick or disk into the computers.....which is why I now have time to surf the net!
