This will be my first time in International First, so I'm wanting to make the most of it.

Any other tips on getting the most out of being up front for the first time are also welcome.

To me, the difference isn't huge. On night flights, I tend to sleep more than on day flights, like most people.

AA's international F is very basic and they menus are notoriously repetitive, there won't be much difference between lunch and dinner service. If you get the 777 with the Flagship Suites, you will really like them as they are extremely comfortable. Other than that, you get the same blankets and amenity kits that are given to Business Class passengers, and the F meals aren't much different than those in Business Class. Basically, the only significant difference between AA's F and J classes is the seat you get.

To be honest with you, if you have enough miles for a First Class award, why not use a oneworld partner like British Airways that would have a truly 5-star international First Class? In my opinion, you are losing a lot of miles flying AA.

British Airways' First Class is a million times better than AA's-- superb meals, superior amenity kits, blankets, and duvets, BA actually provides a sleep suit in F, unlimited snack selections from the menu in-between meals, use of the Molton Brown Spa at the airport, and the list goes on...
