Of course not, nor am I comparing Air Canada to JAL - that's even worse. However you pointed out there were no longer sub $2,000 fares from YVR to Asia, and that's not correct. Provided one is willing to compromise on the airline product while still retaining a lie-flat experience, there are options on ZipAir, and sometimes on WestJet for a similar price, both under $2,000 round trip.
