Wanting to try Virgin to MCO

I've been wishing to try a Virgin flight for years (to MCO) but I always run into difficulty with booking because I'll by flying from CPH, needing to connect either at LGW or MAN. I've got more than enough AmEx MR points for two Upper Class round trips and hope to find something this summer.

Virgin tells me I have to book my CPH-LGW segment (or CPH-MAN) as a separate ticket, but this means luggage cannot be checked through, and also means if there are flight delays and we miss a connection, we are out of luck.
(I have no problem paying for the CPH-UK portion, just want them on one PNR.)

I have noticed when I try to query CPH-MCO on travelocity of similar sites, that sometimes it returns a CO flight number, that are codeshares using Maersk from CPH to the UK (either LGW or MAN), and then codeshares for the Virgin flight. Presumably this would be a single ticket.

However, if I try to query for CPH-MCO on CO's website, it will not return this flight as one of the options, no matter how many times I try or number of flights I tell it to give me (always showing routing through AMS and EWR among others).

Any advice for how I can book a Virgin flight with a connection from CPH as a single journey?

Perhaps I should be asking at the CO forum about that codeshare, but I thought I'd start here.
