Just to summarise my experience here as I have a JAL flight booked via AA too. The AA booking should show the JAL record locator as moondog shows in their post. However, when looking this up on JAL's website you have to use the correct flight number. If it's booked as a codeshare then you use that; if it's the JAL prime flight number then it's that.
