A friend of mine was allowed into the First Wing last night and has had a similar invitation for a flight next month. At first I thought it was a cock and bull story but it’s now been reported on HfP as well.

The BA email explicitly talks about ‘upgrading’ the experience so this does seem to be an intentional offer from BA and not an IT glitch.
