Passenger seated in row 20 - gets to seat area and zero spaces in the overhead lockers. Most of them now closed. Pax now starts opening lockers and looking for space and attempts to rearrange other items in the overheads. Passenger tries to fit bag in a space where - those sitting down looking up - can obviously see it won’t fit. Pax persists. Atmosphere of the cabin now reaches a crescendo with murmers and tuts.

pax is last to board, puts case above row 1 with it immediately fitting and immediately takes seat, plane now ready to leave. What’s so brazen about this?

I think I’d prefer the latter, personally.
