your facts are all well and good, but having purchased over 10 "open return" tix on jl in the past 15 months --all in m-class and w 6-month limits-- i feel compelled to point out that your "open = year" theory doesn't apply universally. moreover, most poeple who actually shop for low fares would encounter tickets similar to mine.
