IMO this seems like much ado about nothing (aka "slow news day") -- I mean I don't particularly love AA but there are times where it makes the most sense....and I don't even have NRPS benefits on AA (or anyairline)

My late maternal grandfather was a civil engineer and Road Commissioner who headed a California county's road department for something like 30+ years (more if you count post-retirement part-time "consulting") -- one of the things I remember him lamenting was that younger professionals had a tendency to fly rather than drive to conferences, etc. ... "How are they ever supposed learn out what other places are actually doing well or poorly if they never drive on their roads? You can say a lot at a conference, but wheels on pavement don't lie"
(But he also loved a good road trip...driving to 49 of the 50 US states and most of the Canadian provinces, most well more than once)
