1. I wanted to check in with a human being because my bag needs to come with me to Shanghai (i.e. not just ORD or YVR). The gatekeeper in the UA check-in area forced me to use the kiosk, and chastised me for not knowing my confirmation number.
Was the PVG flight on a separate PNR? Granted, the agent could use kiosk to do a lot of tasks that they normally do behind the counter.
And the gate agent chastised? Maybe it was teasing that was misinterpreted? You could also use your MP number.

Seems like an overzealous FA and has nothing to do with you.
