The email quoted by BA reference number and said that they were introducing a new system where you can bid for upgrades within a price range. I have heard of this on other airlines, but not for One World. I clicked on the link and was taken through to the Iberia website to complete the process. I assumed that as it is new, just to lowball it and entered the lowest amount £52 each direction. I was asked to enter my card details and went through the security process of my bank and £1 was deducted. They would contact me when the process was finished, and I would only be debited if successful.

This afternoon, I haven't received any confirmation email or any other communication and suddenly it struck me that it could be an extremely well designed scam. I have looked at the original email and gone through again and it all looks legit, except that the BA website that I first go to is upgrade.plusgrade.com. To stop my paranoia, can someone confirm that this is legitimate and others have seen it?
I did this with Lufthansa a while ago ... and I noticed the charge to my credit card ... before Lufthansa actually contacted me to say my (low ball) bid had been accepted !

Please do let us know how it works with BA/IB
