Seems like the contracts will be finalised before summer, and I would imagine installation should begin towards the end of the year.
The Noise Cancelling Headphones will be offered to both FIRST and Club World passengers; I assume Video on Demand will be available across all classes of service.
Existing headphones are the achilles heel of the FIRST product, and well overdue for an overhaul; VOD will be the icing on the cake.
I would imagine this will be rolled out on Australia and Far East routes initially as this is where IFE is most competitive, especially with Virgin entering the market last year.
Which is your favourite VOD system/airline, and what features pleased you most?
I was messengered today by a friend travelling on Lufhansa using the in flight WiFi service - very impressive........
Experienced noise cancelling headphones on SAS over 4 years ago in Biz & Video-On-Demand in coach on some well travelled Emirates 777-200 last year.
BA expects all to travel with them at prices well above the norm and service well below just because they are our national flag carrier.
I vote with my feet...
