I've been to takefue and yamanochaya so maybe I can comment. I thought the food at takefue was fine, nothing exceptional, I wouldn't say it was bad either. Idk my general experience with food at these ryokans are kind of whelming, just to give you a sense of where I'm coming from.

I think it's a ton of food, alot of variety and for the most part very fresh. However, half the times are like hit or miss so that can make or break a meal.

I do think yamanochaya was superior in terms of food. I really liked takefue for the ambiance and the place itself along with the service. Yamanochaya was just a tad bit dated for me but I sitll loved it.

I will say the western breakfast at takefue was top notch and a breath of fresh air as opposed to traditional ryokan breakfasts which I find super overwhelming
