UPDATE: on arrival into BNE, I went to the Transfer Desk, as advised by the comms. Took me a while to find it because there were no signs and none of the few people walking around knew. Not staffed, only this:
I waited an hour, but no one showed up. There were no Qantas staff around at any gate I had walked past, so I waited until my gate opened and asked them. The staff there weren’t sure what I was talking about, checked with someone, and said: “oh, why didn’t you just go to the original lounge entrance where someone is handing out vouchers?”
Well, if only I had known this, I would have gone. No longer any signs in the terminal directing you to the former lounge entrance, and no one to ask.
Communications could have been a lot better. Why not leave a note at the Transfer Desk saying exactly this? Apparently, you get A$25.00 vouchers per person that you can spend anywhere, including outside the airport (??). Would have been nice to have at least that. I have left some feedback on this experience with the ISM on the next flight and will submit CS feedback as well.
