I have a theory about this because I’ve also seen it happen and not once or twice but three times.
And it was premium plus passengers being confirmed before GS in coach.
And no, Premium Plus was not overbooked.
I think United is quietly confirming Premium Plus pax ahead of GS in coach on some occasions, it’s not systematic, but it happens.
No other rational explanations when I analyze the situation I’ve been in and being jumped by one or a bunch of passengers.
And no, it was not buy ups because in the one instance where it happened at the gate, they actually downgraded the Premium Plus passenger to give me the seat I should have gotten in the first place.
On the second instance, at T-48 many people cleared all at once leaving me #1 and on the third instance, my 1k collegue in premium plus was #4 and cleared with #5 when the 3 GS ahead of him stayed in Coach.
So yes, something is happening and as a 8 year GS who carefully studies the upgrade list, I can tell something is off.
