My last stay here was at the end of March. I was alllowed to check in around 9am, I had only asked for them to store my luggage until checkin time, but the front desk person said, "Let me see if your room is ready" after seeing I was a Globalist when she pulled up my reservation. I was given a suite that was near the center of the corridor, not one that is at the end of the corridor. The welcome amenity was pretty meh. It was a small bowl of grapes, both red (which were sweet) and green (which were sour and picked too early).
The free minibar was well-stocked with bottled water and Almdudler "soda". As well Manner wafers. Breakfast was pretty good. It's an OK buffet. But one can order a lot of items from the menu. Which many people seemed to be doing. It also indicated in the welcome letter that one could have their Globalist breakfast from room service. Which I'm not used to hotels allowing. I also hope that going forward, Globalists can still have breakfast in the restaurant and not just in the Regency Club. I wasn't a fan of the stunt the GH Berlin did a couple of years ago.
However, I just hope that after the rebranding, the TV is still set to play Falco's "Vienna Calling" on a loop for the welcome screen. I love cranking up the volume when I arrive in the room, and going back to the Eighties!
Wien... Wien... du kennst me up kennst me down........ So true. So true.
