The Grand Hyatt São Paulo is an older but solid property in an unappealing district for tourism. As the only Hyatt choice in the city, Hyatt loyalists can’t do better nor worse. For those cheating on Hyatt, the JW is newer with a better breakfast (though, GH might be more charming), and the GH is definitely better than the confusing Sheraton. Of course, the Renaissance has the much better location than all of the above. Here are my impressions and photos:
Pros:
- Upgraded to a Grand Suite and placed in the Cinnamon Suite - oooh la la - I love cinnamon
- Comfortable bed - medium plush mattress, plush covers, plush pillows and 6 on the bed
- Shower pressure is good
- Living room couch is comfortable
- Nice traditional design with lots of light woods
- They gave me a hat (I look horrible in hats) and some fruits as a welcome gift
- Staff is quite friendly
- Club is nice - enjoyed the caipiranhas with passion fruit and the four cheese pasta (replaced dinner)
- Offered 4 PM checkout
Neutral:
- Breakfast - either in club or restaurant - I had restaurant - wasn’t that impressed with the food nor my omelet - unsure if club does omelets - if so, I would just do club as atmosphere is better
- Room definitely has some wear
- Fewer available outlets - had to unplug clock
Cons:
- Bedroom heats up a lot due to all of that glass - fine at night, but could still probably work on AC strength on that side
- Not a lot going on within walking distance beyond some office towers
