it’s a continual race to the bottom and all Hyatt has to do is remain marginally better than Marriott Hilton and IHG, and that’s exactly what they will do.
I don't even think they're all that marginally better than other chains
unless you have Globalist. Explorist is a joke status compared to Hilton Gold/Diamond or Marriott Platinum (both of which are easily attainable with some decent benefits not matter how everyone moans about them).
I get that this is a "but how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?" observation that obscures the real valuable status but frankly being a fairly free agent on hotels I'd rather have more middling but still useful options in a lot of places that are attainable than great status made out of unobtainium,
