Your assumption is correct.
I have no idea how a private home in Switzerland may be wired, but multiple hotels last week had outlets for both plug types.
Further, for the benefit of other readers, the hotel-supplied hair dryers and coffee pots were wired for the EU socket (although the device plugs themselves were a bit different than seen in The Netherlands and Germany). The wired-in plug on our converter is also what you are referring to as the EU standard, but this hotel insisted they did not want us using it. We have carried the same one for years with no problems elsewhere in Europe.
As an alternative the hotel offered a jar of basic adapter plugs in very limited quantities to pick from. We "checked-out" the only two that would adapt to a US plug, but they were non-grounded and non-polarized. (But they did work for a very old CPAP and device charging). They would not have worked for something more modern that was either.
This is the basis of the cautionary comment for first-time visitors about packing your own.
Stil quite liked the place despite a couple of hiccups.
