Marketing messages related to credit card points earning have become intentionally misleading. One of the Marriott Bonvoy cards breathlessly exclaims “Up to 23.5 Marriott Rewards points per dollar spent!” Well, that’s 10x base earnings for most properties, 75% bonus for Titanium members, and 6 points per dollar for the card. Advertising something as a card benefit that you’re going to get anyway is… underhanded.
