BA6 HND-LHR menu:

Wanted the smoked duck breast starter but apparently so did everyone else. Only 2 loaded and they had both gone by the time our orders were taken in 2E/F (we also overheard 2K being told it had gone). So much for status based prioritisation...

Amouse bouche was better than expected (I'm not a huge tomato fan)

Ended up going for the soup starter which was fine but nothing to write home about. Not a fan of spicy food (that's why I didn't choose it to begin with) which probably didn't help

Went for the "truffle crusted fillet of beef" which was really quite disappointing. Tiny portion (about the size of the 1/8th of an onion sitting on the potato au gratin) and overdone.

My fiancée went for the pork loin but didn't rate it.

I forgot to take a photo of the dessert; went for bread & butter pudding which was OK.

Overall I was a lot more impressed by the the second meal. The king prawn salad starter was quite nice:

The grilled chicken ballotine main was by far the best part of the whole menu:

The matcha dessert was nicer than I was expecting TBH though the red bean paste wasn't for me.

Having enjoyed some great food in Japan over the previous couple of weeks I have to say it was quite a disappointing menu. Only the second meal showed any evidence of Japanese influence. Even the ex-LHR food on the way there in CW (downgraded from F ) had more Japanese dishes!

Taken together with a broken seat, lack of first choice starter and the ancient non-responsive IFE my fiancée said she would honestly prefer to fly Club Suites next time. I can't say I disagree, TBH the main reason I book F is for the larger bed on a night flight.
