Let me try to explain it in another way (and brp caught on right away):

It does not matter, the OP can not use ANY airline airside departure lounge, pay or no pay, regardless of status, class of travel or any cards, as he is prohibited from using any airlines lounge airside by whatever authorites decided that for LHR, BAA or HM Customs or ? I was replying because IMO your post merely added the irrelevant issue of access to airside lounges - which arriving passengers can not use, unless they process through connections and are departing LHR on an airline.

The OP will be able to access the AA Arrivals Lounge streetside if he chooses to pay USD$35 and it is open.

It seems once more, two are separated by a common language.

As is clear from the top of the post, the OP is arriving at LHR and wants to use an arrivals lounge. He was asking whether he could use his Qantas status to gain access. It seems clear from the posts above that he will not be permitted access to the AA lounge. As for the BA/QF lounges in T1 and T4 (which is the question I was addressing) the answer to this is no, despite the suggestion from bronzedaussie that you might be able to blag it.

He wasn't asking about whether he can get in to any BAA (British Airports Authority) lounge for payment. The answer to that question would be, "of course he can", but he probably could have worked that out for himself.
