Reopeining of NRT Terminal 1 Observation Deck

The observation deck of NRT Terminal 1 has been closed since April 7, 2025, for renovation. This coming April 9, the NRT Terminal 1 observation deck will reopen as SHKISAI GARDEN.

The renovated observation area will have a new food court; the observation deck will have a green nature setting. New will be the digital art area and the kids' area, along with ashi-yu (foot bath, 足湯) onsen. Ashi-yu onsen is not a full-fledged onsen* like everybody is naked; it is a foot soaking onsen where everybody is pretty much fully clothed from the knees up.

With the reopening of the NRT Terminal 1 observation deck, there will be access to the view of Runway A for take-offs. Aircraft usually requires longer runway for takeoff than landing, hence Runway A on Terminal 1 side, which is 4000 m long, is usually used for takeoffs, and Runway B on Terminal 2 side, which is 2500 m long, is usually used for landing.

Reopening of the 5th floor of Terminal 1 as "SHIKISAI GARDEN -Seasonal colors-"!

*There is full fledged onsen, Fu no Yu at NGO and New Chitose Airport Onsen at CTS, so everybody getting naked at the airport is not an unheard of situation in Japan.
