LHR to LAX April 1st

Apologies for the very poor quality photos. I'm not good at this.

This was on BA281, LHR-LAX on April 1st.

The beef starter was very good. The lamb main was very very good - a tender thick cutlet and well-flavoured boulangere potatoes layered with lamb. I also had the chocolate fondant but forgot to take a photo. It was good and chocolatey.

My partner enjoyed the soup, pie and cheesecake and said it was one of the best airline meals he'd had. He usually doesn't eat on board but was tempted by the menu.

We both got our first choices (row 6). One crew member served the mini cabin, one aisle first then the other.

I skipped the 2nd meal. I can't eat mango, which was in both of the items I'd have chosen, although none of it really appealed. I think by that stage of the flight I just want comfort food so had packed some M&S sausage rolls - so I'm not complaining. The club kitchen was well stocked with plenty of options although if I were to be picky I'd say both types of sandwiches were a bit fussy because they contained things I can't safely eat. A simple option with no fancy extras would be appreciated.

The service on board was excellent. The crew were efficient, observant and friendly, and engaged well with passengers. They were also proactive in offering drinks (and coming up with suggestions) and in topping up water.

The chateauneuf was good with the beef but I especially enjoyed the pinot noir with the lamb. It was slightly chilled which I prefer.

All-in-all an excellent flight.
