Very true! If you're lucky enough to even find the route you want, it'll be at the wrong price. PDX-DFW-HEL-MUC (with the AS sector in Y) was showing up for me for 110k miles. Same routing using multi city: 85k. Which is still enough to give my screen side eye when compared to AA, but I don't have enough of that currency right now.
And... to add to the mystery, I was able to find PDX-LAX-HEL-MUC for 70k, on a different day, and without needing to search using multi city! (I could not replicate that routing on AA in J.) Annoyingly, when I tried to change the current trip, it didn't offer this new routing, so I had to cancel and buy new.
PS: if you want that last remaining DFW-HEL on 10/11, grab it quick!
