The PQPs on the UA ticket will be based upon the amount of the fare assigned to UA, which will roughly be based on the distance.
The hassle is fairly small -- you can take an express bus from one airport to the other, provided you have permission to enter Japan.
I might do it to increase my PQPs. However, that would be a secondary consideration -- I'd do it to avoid transiting the US on an I-I connection, which is already a miserable experience and can't be any better recently.
Sorry, I should have been clearer. NH quotes prices separately for the outbound and the return, so $1904 is my return price. But my total price is still very good, about $3800, but not worthy of a mention in the Premium Fares Deal thread. As a matter of fact, I'm using those excellent fares as a cheap way to get to Asia or PER on several tickets. For some reason, NH has great fares to KUL and CGK.
Thanks for the reassurance on the airport transfer in TYO. I've never done it but I think the connection time is 6 hrs, so plenty of time to change airports.
I really want to get my million miler status over with. I'm currently at 920K LT miles, so getting close, but it doesn't help that I don't fly UA as much as I used to.
What's I-I connection? International to international?
