I could see a lot of properties where currently most (or majority) of their available redemption nights are at the Peak level that they get bumped up to the next category so they don't "have to" move them up in a year or two. I hope I'm wrong, but based on what's transpired the last few months it's what I expect/dread.
I guess we’ll see. What I’m hoping is that it will reduce the game-playing. I have seen a number of properties create separate room categories that aren’t real different room types and offer the “base” type only on, say, weeknights, with either no availability or only “premium” availability on weekends. If Hyatt is moving to an award chart that deals with this issue then I really hope they don’t allow such shenanigans any more. A fella can dream, can’t he?
