Are you talking just about the Kenai River drainage, or other places too?
Trout (including Dolly Varden char) are pretty plentiful in the Kenai most of the summer. I prefer August/September because it's also a great time for silver salmon in the same water.
Pretty much anywhere. I did silvers last September too, but I had more fun sight-casting to the dollies and rainbows tailing the reds in smaller water.
