I have done this multiple time when I travel on regular economy class tickets and I enjoyed seating together with my companions.
This time I booked a Business class ticket for myself and my family member booked a non basic economy ticket on the same flight.
So we will not be seating together. I am wondering if my family member can get an Economy Plus seat in this case.
Thank you.
Earlier this month, I called UA reservations and they did just that for my colleague traveling in regular economy. I was in domestic shorthaul first, and I am 1K. I had her PNR handy and said we wished for her to sit closer to me. Without further ado, the agent asked me which E+ seat I’d prefer for her, and then her seat assignment was changed at no charge.
