I got the same email from Collinson when I asked about my Virgin miles. So they honored BA but consider Virgin, Jetblue, etc. to be a mistake.
I think its much more likely that BA agreed to pay for the extra miles (or came to a negotiated agreement where they shared cost with Collinson), and Jetblue, Virgin, etc. didn't. That's why you see BA miles posting, but not for other partners. That's also why it took so long for the number of miles to update in the 'Pending' status, and why it took 2.5 months overall for the miles to post.
Frankly, for me this boosts BA's brand image; they honored their promotion while others didn't. Possibly part of their current initiative to turn their brand around, or maybe we just got lucky with somebody in partnerships.
If any of you do sue, please post the what you find in discovery here (it's public anyway, as part of the court record). I'm dying to know the backstory on this, but it will probably take a lawsuit to find out.
