It's relevant. DL also experimented with SEA and has occasionally put lie-flats on PHX-JFK. B6 flies lie-flats to LAS, but they're not a model for anything except how not to make money.
What UA, AA, and DL have all learned is that there are very few US markets which will support fares justifying regular lie-flat service.
