The additional blocked seat could be inop, but could also be deadheading a pilot to BKK if one of the crew on layover are unable to operate or augment coming back to YVR.
I am pretty sure that doesn't reduce the number of seats shown available on the flight (in the app) in J. So if the seats are shown as X assigned out of Y available, your scenario would increase X not decrease Y.
