Isn't that like $1,700 or so? Seems like the initial summons would be enough to get this resolved without ever actually filing/doing anything.
The far more likely scenario is that a huge number of account credentials were compromised and the OP is the lucky guy/gal (a) whose account details were actually used, and (b) is active on FT.
That actually made me laugh. Corporate systems are hacked all the time. Being impacted, though, is a numbers game and statistics are on the consumer's side.
None of these are likely scenarios in this instance. And corporate systems are not hacked all the time. And even if they are, such an event is not a SCAM. As publicly traded companies, when corporate systems are hacked, corporations are mandated to make known the breach. They have to report such events to those impacted as well as to federal and non governmental bodies. It would be highly unusual for him to be the only person on FT to be impacted.
Further, what is the SCAM? What he has related is not a SCAM. He has not told the full story. I am convinced he did something that got his account compromised.
