Isn't that like $1,700 or so at redemption value? Seems like the initial summons would be enough to get this resolved without ever actually filing/doing anything.

The OP either made the redemption himself or did something to compromise his account. This is a very fishy tale and we have not been told the whole story. Someone would have to be able to correctly guess his Advantage account number plus his password. Highly unlikely. The OP did something to compromise his account and is now blaming the airline.
The far more likely scenario is that a huge number of account credentials were compromised and the OP is the lucky guy/gal (a) whose account details were actually used, and (b) is active on FT.

all the time. Being impacted, though, is a numbers game and statistics are on the consumer's side.
