It really is ridiculous that management haven’t grasped the problem yet. It seems they have just dug in… This is what we need to do, if there’s a strike, so be it, if there are 50 strikes, so be it. It’s clear that the German unions are no longer there to represent the poorly-paid, exploited worker… They represent certain well-paid groups with a clear agenda of preserving their own interests. LH need to think outside the box: temporary cabin crew in reserve for strike days, outsourcing… The model to follow could be BA some years ago, where the legacy crew were frozen/paid off/whatever and all new recruitment was done on completely different terms. It’s clear there isn’t much point in negotiating: special interest groups are not going to give up their special interests if you just ask them nicely.
