AA should be able to tell you what kind of gift cards were issued, and how they were sent. Have you checked your "Trash" email folder?
If they were sent by postal mail, get the physical address to which they were sent, and contact the Postal Inspectors and the police in that area immediately.
That is what I would hope would happen. They shouldn't be allowed to redeem to a different email address for this exact reason.
