Probably wouldn’t rent an EV, personally. I had one for a few months.

First road trip, Ford’s routing app sent me to an inoperational EV charging station in Waco TX. (ABRP and the charging station’s own website both said it was up… but not true). Wound up stranded at a level 2 charger at a La Quinta for 6 hours so I could get enough charge to limp to Dallas. 2.5 hour drive became ~9 hrs.

That was a bit of bad luck on a route with no alternative chargers. In all likelihood you’d be fine… but I think with rental cars, the move is to minimize unnecessary risk.

I still miss the driving experience and other EV pluses, but ultimately prefer my gas powered vehicle.
