UA sure didn't waste any time with the midweek cutbacks. Even last week before this announcement when I happened to be searching for a June trip, TPA-IAD was down to two flights per day on Tuesday and Wednesday with the first one not until 2:00 PM starting the last week of May through at least June (and I assume continuing through the summer, though I didn't check).
My frequent ultimate destination is a tiny UX destination that I have to connect to get to on any airline that flies there. I used to like the 9:00AM TPA-IAD that UA had for some time, and would connect from that. This will drive me to DL via ATL, which is an equally (in)convenient connection point, since DL now has the better schedule and, as it turns out, is also cheaper than the remaining meager UA options (ETA: many of which want to drive me through ORD, which is a ridiculous backtrack to get from FL to somewhere else in the southeast / mid-Atlantic area. Plus it is ORD).
