As with countries, I don’t know how to measure “bestness” for airlines in an objective way that would be accepted by everyone. And why does it even matter.
I think that is exactly what is play here. Americans have this unexplained need to think that everything America does is the best. I’ve lived outside of the United States, and I know in other countries that is simply not the case.
