So I jump into my existing reservation for that itinerary, try to apply upgrade certificates, and it tells me there is no upgrade space available on either outbound or return leg (trying both ways to apply the certs, on the main reservation page or the payment summary page).
Puzzled, I go to ExpertFlyer. Though my sub has lapsed, I'm able to do a single date search. And EF shows U availability as ONE SEAT.
WTH. Why would AS' search engine, when told TWO adults are traveling, return a result claiming a First Class upgrade by certificate is available if only ONE of the two pax can book into U? Frustrating, frustrating, frustrating. And misleading. At least I wasn't buying a new ticket and assuming the AS upgrade search results were accurate.
The fact that you found even one U seat is really the bigger issue here--must be a short flight like ANC-FAI or SEA-PDX....lol. Back on topic, you may have found a new U space IT "bug" to add to the list.
