Having trouble deciding between this property and the newly opened Hiliwatu which is in a similar location. Cost to me would be the same for either. Stay is a little over a month away.
Convinced I want this stay to be in the Ubud area and at a Marriott Bonvoy property.
I already booked Hiliwatu for our dates but considering switching.
I am also considering the Westin Resort & Spa Ubud as I do prefer that location wise but fairly certain I will go with either Cicada or Hiliwatu instead - Westin seems like too much of a big box Western style hotel in comparison.

Using Marriott FNC's (50K) for the booking so all 3 are within the budget. Mandapa is out of budget, Element and Sthala I really did not consider but are within the budget.
Lowly Silver Member so not expecting any type of room upgrade. Base rooms at both properties seem really nice (better than the Westin) with decent balcony.
View is important - pool and property view and room view as well.

I have read quite a few reviews and watched all the Youtube videos I could find for both properties.

Cicada based on the images / limited videos the view does not Wow me ; BUT most all reviews they rave about the views so could definitely be something that needs to be there to feel it and pictures don't do it justice.
I mean the view does not look bad by any means, especially from the pool but very rain forest canopy looking and the villas portion of the property below seem to always be in view.
Hiliwattu is so new that few reviews and traveler images exist. It seems similarly on the edge with infinity pools and from what I can tell offers a view that includes some palm tree framed rice terraces which is for me a big part of Ubud's appeal.

I know both of these properties are quite far from downtown Ubud and other tourist sites. I do plan on leaving the resort, will plan on arranging a private driving in advance of our trip for each trip out.
By the crow flies Hiliwatu is much closer to Tegallalang and the views I mentioned are actually of it from across the valley but was surprised to find that the driving time is actually further away than Cicada as Cicada is on the same main road instead of tucked away on side streets.
That led me to plug into google maps drive times to different points of interest on the island we may want to visit from Ubud and discovered that Cicada is actually a little closer in most every case including the Airport by a couple minutes despite it's more northern location.

Most of the differences where insignificant but Pura Tirta Empul being only 12 minutes away vs 29 minutes away from Hiliwatu was a big one and from Cicada it seemed easy enough to drive up to Kintamani for a cafe visit with volcano views (21 min drive straight up the same road) ; whereas from Hiliwatu that being 45 min would probably not make my list of things to do/see,
I understand Google drive times can be inaccurate due to traffic in Bali and Ubud traffic can be awful but assume a longer drive remains a longer drive.

I could keep rambling on but hoping those who have stayed there may be able to talk me into Cicada or likewise advise if I should go for Hiliwatu instead or reconsider the Westin Resort based on the below questions about Cicada:

Rooms: spacious and comfortable with nice views from base rooms? (minor concern is we will be traveling with our daughter and it seems there is open concept between the bathroom shower and the bed). Not a deal breaker but not great for us which is one of the reasons I originally leaned Hiliwatu where this is not an issue. Curious if this seemed uncomfortable or are internal workarounds?

Views: ??? Are they really special? Do all rooms face the back of the property (pool / valley)?

Driving time to / from downtown Ubud? Easy to catch a ride into town for dinner? Back from town after dinner?

Food: The main restaurant looks to be a little too fancy - multi course small plates is not really our style and especially with our daughter may not be a fit. More casual and in-room dining is probably more of interest.
Breakfast cost for those that did not receive it free due to status? Quality of breakfast? We likely would opt for the hotel breakfast most mornings.
Dinner I expect 1 or 2 would be at the resort and a couple in downtown Ubud - already have a few Ubud restaurants on my list.

Pool: is the main pool heated? Hours they keep it open? Looks like there is a jacuzzi/hot tub next to the pool - this is a bonus over Hiliwatu as they do not have that. Easy to get a drink from the bar when at/in the pool?

Toilets: ok to flush toilet paper plumbing or is bin use required? Wife and daughter not a big fan of the bin.

Upgrade cost to Villa with Pool from base room booking if offered? I might be interested depending on cost.

How long did the drive to and from the airport take? We would be arriving late afternoon (2 PM domestic flight arrival) and departing early afternoon (6:45 PM Intl' flight departure). Staying in Sanur prior but breaking up the Bali time with a domestic trip to Flores so will need to get to and from the resort to the airport.

Anything within close walking distance? Shops, etc...

Westin I am sure more family friendly but our daughter is an easy traveler that will go along with our plans without fuss most of the time so not too considered about the family vs. romantic vibe. Some family pool time is usually all we need and she enjoys luxury property touches.
