Happy to report 2000 JPY was not the case today! Mine adjusted for current exchange rates. In my case converted a $20 F&B USD certificate converted to 3077.20 JPN or about $20.49 USD (per the Googler). No complaints about exchange rate or Six Senses Kyoto!
EDIT - My bad - messed up my conversion.
