So the terms are $20k spend, after year 1? So say the renewal is in November, you need to spend $20k in December or later to qualify? So say you spend $20k in December / January (after renewal in November), then it it takes 8-12 weeks after the $20k spend (say January) for it to post to the AA account? So it could be April or May before the $125 credit posts?
No - each year you spend 20k (Platinum Card) BEFORE your anniversary renewal date, you have qualified for the credit, PROVIDING, you pay the annual fee AND have one more billing period close (to ensure you don't close the account for a refund, I assume.) In your example, if your anniversary date is November, and you spend 20k in Dec/Jan, you will have to wait until the following December to qualify for the credit and then you could wait an additional 6-8 weeks (but IME is doesn't take that long.) The key thing is, is doesn't matter when in the year you hit 20k, Citi won't send it over to AA until one billing period
after your next anniversary date.
