Before the changes, the opportunity to climb the status ladder, was motivation enough (all other things being roughly equal, fares, flight timings etc).

However all other things are not equal, because at the same time as loyalty has been ‘disincentivized’, BA’s attraction has declined, due to deteriorating service standards, food quality, constant IT issues etc. etc. etc.

So will I, a discretionary traveller, never fly on BA again? Of course not. But the motivational bar that I need to jump has been raised considerably.

I'm a bit worried for you, BA or bust . Does this mean you will need to change your FT handle??
